Help Feed Voters on Election Day

Nearly a year ago, The Migrant Kitchen Initiative started Feed The Polls to ensure that food insecurity does not prevent anyone from voting. Thanks to your help, we provided over 40,000 meals to voters waiting in line at polling sites across the US.

Access to food continues to be a challenge for over 42 million Americans and there has been a concerted effort by local and state officials to reinforce food insecurity as a barrier to voting by making it illegal to distribute food and water to people waiting in line to vote.

With the New York City Mayoral elections on the horizon, and 46% of households with children in NYC struggling to pay for food, the majority of whom are Black or Hispanic, we will provide free meals at polling sites across the five boroughs, to ensure that food insecurity does not prevent New Yorkers from making their voices heard.

We need your help! $10 can provide a meal to a New Yorker waiting in line to vote and with your support we can remind our country that everyone has the right to participate in our democracy regardless of socioeconomic status, race, or access to food.
